Mya Baksh-Bert
Mya is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern at Mercy University who specializes in working with children and adolescents. She is passionate about creating a warm, supportive environment where young people feel comfortable expressing themselves, developing new skills, and working through emotional, behavioral, and relationship challenges.
Before beginning her clinical training, Mya worked as an art teacher with children and individuals with a wide range of abilities and needs, including those with autism, behavioral and emotional disabilities, and DeafBlindness. This experience strengthened her creativity, patience, and ability to adapt her approach to each person’s unique communication style and developmental needs.
Mya brings compassion, curiosity, and creativity to her work with children, adolescents, and their families. Through a family-systems perspective, she seeks to understand each young person within the context of their relationships, experiences, and environment. Her goal is to help clients feel understood while supporting healthier communication, stronger family connections, and meaningful emotional growth.
